New Rules: Spell Scrolls

Nothing new to the US - users, the use of Spell Scrolls. The german version of HeroQuest never had Spell Scrolls, so we had to translate them. I personally like these and adapted the existing Hero-Spells into Spell Scrolls with a little less effect, because there should be a noticable difference between a great wizard and a Barbarian who hardly deciphers a scroll.

Thanks to Slev and Açoriano3 here are the rules for Spell Scrolls:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spell Scrolls:

The Heroes may find Spell Scrolls while searching for treasure. If a Hero finds a random Spell Scroll, they draw the top card from the Spell Scroll deck. Sometimes a certain Scroll is listed as treasure in the Quest Notes. In this case, the card for that Scroll has to be removed from the deck before the game by the Evil Wizard Player.

Spell Scrolls can be used by every Hero (even the Barbarian) as long as they have two or more current Mind points, and their use counts as casting a spell. A Hero with only one Mind point remaining cannot use Spell Scrolls and must drop them immediately, although other Heroes with sufficient Mind points are allowed to retrieve them from the floor.

During the Quest, the Heroes may carry as many Scrolls as they find. At the end of each Quest, each Hero may not keep more than two Spell Scrolls for the next Quest. If a Hero does have more than two Scrolls, he may hand the extra Scroll(s) over to any other Hero, provided that this would not give that Hero more than his allowed TWO scrolls. If all Heroes have their TWO Scrolls, then any remaining Scrolls must be discarded.
Each Spell Scroll may be cast only once. After casting, the parchment crumbles to dust and the card is discarded.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

In addition to the converted spells the users "gotcha", "Iwanhoa" and "Arciras" helped me, to create some new and usefull Scrolls. These collection of Spell Scrolls will be available for download within the next days.

This will be announced here.

I seem to remember fre3men from "Old Scratchs" forum has some pretty cool looking Spell Scroll card backs. It seems like Slev may have implement those or something similar for his HQ project.

My Scroll Deck back is from http://www.heroquestgame.com.

My Spell Scroll cards use Flint's card back.

I used fre3men's stuff elsewhere for other things.
fre3men's stuff is on http://www.heroquest.es.

5 forums, 300 different people, 8000 files, etc...

I must have gotten confused.. :?

Indeed.

FWIW, fre3men's Scroll card back was based on the original Artefact/Quest Treasure card back.

You wouldn't happen to have that in a US style with English writing, would you?

Mine where made via Flint's. To compensate for the added height, you actually need to cut down the width!

Simply take a US card template at the same Res as Flint's image, and use photoshop to cut the centre image out. then crop the boarders from Flint's card and re-size so that the width is equal to the width of the window you created +1mm. Paste this as a layer behind the US boarder.

The ink-dropper tool can be used to select the scroll colour, which can then be paintbrushed over the german text, allowing you to put in English text.

Dead easy. I'm sure I could make it it if you suck too much ;)

US-Cards have other dimensions ?

Ours are 5.3 x 8 cm

US cards are taller (8.82cm iirc). The image is rendered as full-bleed with no boarder.

I've made a US-sized one, I'll email it to Flint for the site.
