I thought I would share some info from the D&D Experience from last weekend. I didn't go to it but I have been trying to keep up with the news from it.
I am pretty excited about the new D&D Raveloft board game coming out at Gen Con 2010. It sounds kind of like the old HQ board game. It is going to have 42 unpainted minis (including a huge Dracolich) and a modular tile board that is assembled during play.
Each player controls a character in the party. One interesting twist is that instead of having a DM-Type player the players take turn doing DM stuff. Basically each player draws a DM card each round and the card tells them what monsters and/or traps the players encounter. By having each player draw a card then the scenario scales to the number of players (1-5).
Then in November another board game will be released using the same game system (Dragons of Fire Dragon Mountain or something like that).
In the podcast I listened to they also talked about looking to do other D&D-themed boardgames. One that really intrigued me was the mention of an idea for a Dragonlance War of the Lance strategy boardgame like a Risk or A&A.
Just thought I would share.
